In 2013, Plymouth Energy Community teamed up with British Gas to help keep local residents warmer in their properties. As part of the government’s Energy Company Obligations (ECO) scheme, British Gas has been helping to insulate eligible homes throughout the city.
Amongst the first people to benefit from this partnership were Mr and Mrs Metcalf from St Budeaux. Read on to find out more about their experience and the difference it’s made to their home:
“We were keen to make the house warmer, save some money on the fuel bills and generally improve the cosmetic appearance. Our house is so warm now – we’re delighted with it.”
“The workmen were very efficient; they turned up early most days and got on with the job, paying a lot of attention to detail. They were very clean and tidy whilst working. They cleaned up every night and were respectful of our home. All of the external items on our home were put back on completion, even the washing line.”
Aside from the energy savings, the cosmetic appearance of their home has benefitted tremendously too. “The house looks fantastic. We’re delighted with it. We’ve had lots of people asking us about it and stopping outside to have a look. All the neighbours are jealous – they all want theirs done now.”
Summing-up their experience, Mr Metcalfe added: “I found the workmen very pleasant, keen to please, hardworking and the standard of work and workmanship was very high. I’m very pleased with it. They’ve just done a great job.”
