Home Energy Team gets stronger
Our volunteer programme is going from strength to strength. On Tuesday 3 March, another 14 residents came along to our Ballard House offices for a one day course in Energy Awareness.
People from all over Plymouth joined together to learn how to take control of energy use and improve comfort in homes.
Many of the team are now working in small supervised groups on Home Energy Visits – to help residents tackle energy problems out in the community.
Olivia Wells, a Plymouth University student and volunteer has been out and about recently: “I think the Energy Team is a great way to volunteer. Visiting people in their home is just the start of a chain. It’s a personal approach – being there and saying ‘yes, I can see what you’re going through’. It really says ‘don’t worry, things will get better’ and I love being part of that.”
Volunteers don’t just visit homes though, many help out during events. From cake sales to switching surgeries, it’s been a busy month taking PEC services far and wide. You can see more of what we’ve been up to in our February newsletter.
