Exciting community share offer from Nudge!
We’re bursting with excitement at this fantastic opportunity from our friends at Nudge and want to share it with you!
Nudge Community Builders is a Community Benefit Society set up by local residents to bring empty buildings back in to use. They have bought The Clipper on Union Street to create two residential flats and a market and are now running a community share offer so you can own a bit too. The shares start from £50 and the target return is 3.6% each year.
The Nudge team and their wonderful volunteers have been working round the clock. Already the ground floor is open every Thursday to Saturday 12-6pm as a bright, quirky market space. Food and drink is available from the pop-up bar area and everyone is welcome to explore the building, see the sellers and find out more about what’s happening. The idea is to grow a community of people sharing experience and skills and contributing to a really special space that everyone can enjoy.
The building has been transformed with patterns inspired by Faulston (the original architect that worked on Union Street) and given a contemporary twist using colours from the 1948 mural inside the building.
There are still volunteers and builders working away so you will see more improvements over the summer. The opening times will then be extended. The plan is to convert the first, second and third floors into two one-bedroom flats to meet local need.
If you have ever said that something needs to be done about Union Street, here is your chance to help! Nudge have already established the popular Union Street Party and Union Corner with Stonehouse Action and The Clipper is the next step on their exciting journey.
You are invited to attend an information event about the share offer on:
Thursday 30 August at 6pm or Tuesday 4 September at 8am.
