Its a rewarding position that will see you working alongside a team of like-minded people, passionate about changing Plymouth’s energy future. No matter what your background or experience, you will learn a significant amount about how community energy can really help people as well as the environment. Its a big-thinking, multi-faceted organisation that is’t afraid of trying something new so we can guarantee that being a Director won’t be dull!
How can you become a Director?
Each year, at our AGM, a number of Directors are required by the rules that govern our society to stand down. Shortly before the AGM all members are invited to stand to be elected as a Director. In accordance with our election policy, our members then democratically elect Directors for the following year.
From time to time, when certain skill sets are required by the Board, we will advertise for Directors to be co-opted (invited).
Directors are Non-Executive and voluntary, however reasonable expenses can be covered. Our Directors are expected to attend monthly meetings (on average 2 hours) as well as the occasional special-purpose meeting depending upon business necessities. As the majority of meetings are held in central Plymouth, Directors need to reside within the Plymouth travel-to-work area. In addition, Directors undertake inter-meeting reading and have to be contactable by email. Directors are encouraged to support events held by the organisation.
To be eligible to stand for election to the PEC Board of Directors you must be a member of PEC, this is free, join here. To be eligible to stand for election to the PEC Renewables Board of Directors you must be a member of PEC Renewables, i.e. you must have brought community shares in PEC Renewables.
If you would like to talk to an existing Director, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange this.
